Dr. Lise Alschuler is a naturopathic physician practicing in Scottsdale, AZ. In 1988, she graduated with honors in Medical Anthropology from Brown University in Providence RI. In 1994, she received her doctorate in naturopathic medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle WA. Dr. Alschuler is licensed as a naturopathic physician in the states of Washington and Arizona. Dr. Alschuler is currently the President of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP). In addition to her private practice and her work with the AANP, Dr. Alschuler gives presentations about natural health and integrative cancer care to lay and professional audiences and is working on several writing projects. Since graduating, in addition to maintaining a private practice, Dr. Alschuler has taught botanical medicine, gastroenterology, oncology and clinical skills to naturopathic students and residents. She was founding Chair of the Botanical Medicine program at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1995 - 1996. From 1996 to 1999, she was Chair of the Botanical Medicine Department at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA. She was then the Clinic Medical Director of the training clinic for Bastyr University naturopathic, acupuncture, and nutrition students from 1999 to 2003. From 2003 to 2008, she was the Director of the Naturopathic Medicine department at Cancer Treatment Centers of America - Midwestern Regional Medical Center north of Chicago, IL. Midwestern is a 95-bed JCAHO accredited regional hospital specializing in the provision of comprehensive integrated oncology care. Dr. Alschuler now resides and works in Arizona. She is the Naturopathic Education Liaison for Cancer Treatment Centers of America, does consulting and public education nationwide, and provides naturopathic oncology outpatient care at Naturopathic Specialists (www.naturopathicspecialists.com) in Scottsdale, AZ. Dr. Alschuler has published numerous articles on herbal medicine and naturopathic medicine in the lay press as well as in the medical literature. She has lectured extensively on these topics nationally as well as internationally. In September 2000, she was named by Seattle Magazine as one of Seattle’s Top Doctors. Dr. Alschuler received a Bastyr University Distinguished Alumni award in June 2005. She currently serves as the President of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and is also on the Board of Medical Examiners for the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology and was a founding Board member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians from 2004-2007. She believes that her job as a naturopathic physician and educator is to stimulate and support the innate healing processes within each individual by applying a scientifically based strategy that utilizes the most natural and least harmful approaches possible.
